A story about Lou Reed
So the second time was less interesting – I saw him and Laurie Anderson at a museum, they were looking at the art like normal (?!) new yorkers.
the first time is a more fun story – I had told my boyfriend a few weeks earlier that if I EVER met lou reed i would ask him a specific question about his lyrics – where is “becky’s” that he speaks of in the song “eggcream?” the reason i made this promise was that i didn’t want to go on a wild goosechase throughout brooklyn looking for this place.
but then, i actually ran into lou! so i had to ask him! he was sitting behind me at a concert with laurie anderson, and i was polite, and asked if i could ask him something. i said “you know the song egg cream?” he said “yes.” (duh.) i said “well, you talk about becky’s…” and he interrupted – “i made it up.” “what?” “i made it up, junior’s didn’t rhyme.”
so, what he told me didn’t even make sense, but i thanked him, and that is my lou reed story.
he was very nice, and it is kind of a cool thing in retrospect that i didn’t just say YOU CHANGED MY LIFE or something like that.
